Early Life and Experiences
Viola Jessop was born in 1887 in Argentina to Irish parents. She had a difficult childhood, and she left home at a young age to work as a stewardess on ships. In 1911, she joined the crew of the Titanic.

Jessop was also a strong advocate for women's rights. She was a member of the National Union of Ships' Cooks, Stewards and Stewards' Mates, and she helped to organize the first women's branch of the union.
Later Life and Legacy
Jessop continued to work as a stewardess until she retired in 1950. She then moved to England, where she lived until her death in 1971.
Jessop's legacy as a social activist lives on. She is remembered as a courageous woman who fought for the rights of others. Her story is an inspiration to all who believe in the power of social change.
